Scanpan

I just got my new pan that is recommended by Mary McDougall.  For those of you who do not know her she is the wife of Dr. John McDougall. who is a plant based rock star!   He has been treating patients successfully with a starch based died for year!

If you want to become more familiar with the McDougalls… (you should!) check out his web site at drmcdougall.com

OKAY…now back to the SCANPAN.  I saw that this was on sale for a special anniversary price on AMAZON so of course I had to buy it.  I am kinda a sucker for kitchen equipment.  When you are plant based oil free you do a lot of dry saute’.   Dry saute’is a method of cooking onions, peppers, celery, carrots that you would usually saute in oil but now you are using a dry pan.  This pan delivered!  It did a great job and the first thing I made in it was tofu potato  scramble and I would have to say it was the best one yet.  I’m not sure if I have just perfected tofu potato scramble (recipe to come) or if the pan should take the credit.

With that said… if you are in need of a great non-stick fry pan I would recommend the SCANPAN!

Barbecue Pineapple Pizza

This Pizza was delicious! The picture is before baking it and we ate it so fast… I didn’t get another picture! Remember my recipes are vegan and no oil, low or no sugar or salt. If I have a brand that I prefer due to the ingredients list…I will put it in parenthesis. Feel free to use your favorite brands but know that I have checked to make sure what I use is oil free and vegan.

Here is how I made it!

1 pizza shell (Sami’s Bakery Millet and Flax pizza shell)
1/2 cup barbecue sauce (Bone Sucking Sauce)
1/2 cup pineapple chunks cut into bite sized pieces
Sliced red onion strips
sliced red and yellow bell peppers
a few sprigs of fresh cilantro

Assemble your pizza to look pretty and bake it in a 400 degree oven until the edges are crisp and the veggies are tender…I baked mine about 15 minutes. Check your pizza shell directions. You can use any pizza crust you like here and even make your own… The topping combo is delicious!

PS Sami’s bakery is in Tampa Florida. I order online and have the products shipped to my house… great company, great ingredients, and great service. I got the Bone Sucking Sauce at the Happy Eggplant in Hermitage PA.
